Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Veggie Exchange.
What is Veggie Exchange?
It’s a small online community where hobby gardeners track their plants and share seedlings with each other. Think of it as a garden journal plus a friendly bulletin board for the gardeners around you.
Who is it for?
Anyone who grows plants for fun — from a balcony of pots to a backyard full of trays. Some folks just use the journal; others share extras with their neighbors. Both are welcome.
Is it free?
Yes. Veggie Exchange is free to use. No ads, no upsells, no third-party tracking.
How do I follow another gardener?
Visit their profile or a farm page and tap the Follow button. Their posts and plant updates start showing up in your feed.
How do I share seedlings I’ve grown?
Create a farm in the dashboard, add the plants you’re growing, and list which ones you have extras of. Other gardeners can follow you and arrange to pick them up.
Will my photo’s location be shared when I post?
No. We strip the EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates) from every photo when it’s uploaded. Your phone may warn you that the original includes location, but the image we store and display does not.
How do I tag a plant in a post?
When creating a post, scan the plant’s QR code (mobile) or pick it from your list (web). The plant appears as a tag pill on the post; anyone can tap it to see the plant’s history.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account Settings and use the Delete Account section. This removes your profile, posts, and personal plant records from Veggie Exchange.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. The iOS app is in App Store review and Android is not on the near-term roadmap. The website works well on Android phones in the meantime.
How do I get support?
Visit the Support page or email support@veggie-exchange.com. This is a side project, so replies may take a few days.
