Terms of Service

By accessing or using Veggie Exchange (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Veggie Exchange. If you live in a country where the minimum digital-consent age is higher, you must meet that age. By using the Service, you represent that you do.

You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect someone else is using your account.

You agree not to:

• Spam, harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
• Post content that is obscene, hateful, or violates someone else’s rights.
• Run a commercial nursery through the Service, or resell plants you didn’t grow.
• Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or attack the Service.
• Upload malware or illegal content.

We use automated filtering to block obvious obscenity in handles, names, bios, posts and comments. We may remove content or accounts that violate these Terms at our discretion.

You can report any post or comment and block any user, on the website and in the iOS app. Content that receives several reports may be hidden automatically until we review it. We limit how often accounts can post. Accounts that break these Terms may be warned, or temporarily or permanently barred from posting. We keep a record of moderation actions.

You keep ownership of the photos, posts, comments, and other content you create on Veggie Exchange. By posting, you grant Veggie Exchange a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content as needed to operate the Service (for example, showing your post in the community feed and on your profile).

You can delete your content at any time. After deletion, copies may persist briefly in backups before being purged, and a farm’s activity history may keep a post’s title and the start of its text (see the Privacy Policy).

Veggie Exchange is free to use and is run as a hobby project, by hobby gardeners, for hobby gardeners. Many growers share plants for free; some ask a small price to cover seed and soil. Prices and payment arrangements are set by each grower and settled directly between you and them, for example in cash or by Venmo at pickup. We aren’t a party to the exchange, don’t collect or hold payment, and can’t issue refunds. Any pickup, payment or trade is directly between the people involved.

The Service uses third-party providers for hosting, authentication, email, push notifications, app updates, AI suggestions and weather (Supabase, Vercel, Resend, Expo, OpenRouter, Open-Meteo, Apple and Google). Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and privacy policies.

Veggie Exchange is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any plant you receive or share will meet your expectations.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Veggie Exchange and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Account Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page; the “Last updated” date at the top tells you when. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
